Our Station:
In December of 1999 Big River Fire Protection
finally had a home. The members made a decision to purchase a used
building and make some modifications to make a small three bay building.
Due to financial restrictions, the fire department could not afford to
have a contractor complete all work on the building. So, after a lot of
donations from a lot of different companies, individuals, and hard work
of all of the members of Big River Fire, we constructed a three bay building
which held 3 of our 4 trucks and a very small restroom.
In January of 2001, after a lot of money
crunching, Big River Fire was able to expand the small building.
We were able to complete Phase 2 of 3 of the building. We added on
2 additional bays, 1 chief's office, 1 captain's office and a very small
kitchen/living area. Phase 3 is a goal Big River Fire is working
diligently towards daily.
Phase 3 will bring us a bigger living area,
bigger kitchen area, bunk rooms and a conference room. Phase 3 will
also expand the first 3 bays built to meet the same size of the Phase 2
bays so that all trucks can be placed in the station without having to
squeeze them in. With Phase 3, members will be able to stay in the station
overnight which will assist us in our response time.
If you are interested in helping us in anyway
possible to make Phase 3 happen, please contact us at anytime....we do
need your help! |
